Job summary

SCAN, Inc. in Laredo, TX is seeking a Counselor to deliver evidence-based substance use disorder treatment to adolescents 13-17 in the TRY Outpatient Program. The role partners with families, schools, and community partners to support treatment and long-term recovery.

The Counselor conducts screenings, develops treatment plans, provides individual/group/family counseling, and ensures compliant documentation. This is a full-time position with travel mileage reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in Texas preferred/required as applicable.
• Experience with adolescents in substance use, behavioral health, or counseling.
• Valid TX driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and family engagement.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group, and family counseling to youth ages 13-17.
• Conduct screening, assessment, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on youth needs and recovery goals.
• Engage parents/caregivers in treatment when appropriate.
• Maintain clinical documentation per HHSC and agency requirements.
• Coordinate services with schools and community partners.
• Travel to schools and other sites; mileage compensated.
