Job summary

Outreach Development Corp. in Brentwood, NY is seeking a Counselor to deliver long-term supervision, support, and clinical services to adolescents with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health problems.

You will screen residents, supervise self-medication, conduct assessments, provide counseling, manage caseload, and document timely while coordinating with referrals and clinical staff.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience with substance abuse disorders.
• 1 year of experience with adolescents with co-occurring mental health problems.
• Experience in an OASAS funded facility is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Initial and ongoing screening of resident and resident property per unit procedure.
• Supervise clients in self-medication under supervision.
• Complete assessments and intakes, orienting clients to rights, responsibilities and program expectations.
• Facilitate admission/referral to other programs or agencies for needed services.
• Provide individual, group, and family counseling in a professional, ethical, and competent manner.
• Manage all aspects of assigned caseload during treatment with appropriate levels of care and interventions.
• Complete all documentation and reports in a timely manner.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with referents and collateral contacts.
• Maintain communication with clinical staff to integrate and enhance services.
• Communicate incidents and emergencies using the SAC system and related reports.
• Provide supervision and management of client population in daily house schedule.
• Facilitate service groups.
• Conduct toxicology testing, as needed.
• Adhere to Medicaid compliance plan and reporting requirements.
