Job summary

TaraVista Behavioral Health Center in Devens, Massachusetts, is seeking an Adolescent Mental Health Counselor to join its inpatient psychiatric unit on a 24-hour split shift. You will provide direct care, support patients and their families, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Requirements include a High School Diploma; a Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience is preferred; prior PCT/CNA/M.A. experience is valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience as PCT/PCA/CNA or Medical Assistant preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication; maintain professional boundaries.
• Experience in psychiatric or substance inpatient settings and crisis intervention is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient observation and rounds.
• Assist staff with patient care following treatment plans.
• Observe and report patient progress to staff.
• Develop therapeutic relationships with patients while maintaining boundaries.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living as needed.
• Provide appropriate supervision of patients’ activities.
• Ensure safety monitoring of patients on the unit.
• Process admissions belongings.
• Complete documentation in the EMR system.
• Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team.

Part Time 24-hours Split Shift 11:00am - 7:30pm including every other weekend and holiday rotation.

As aMental Health Counselor for TaraVista in Devens, Massachusetts, you’ll bring your experience and knowledge where your voice matters. A Mental Health Counselor is an integral part of our multidisciplinary treatment team. You will provide direct care and support not only to our patients but also their families and make decisions that impact the lives of your peers, your patients, and your community. In exchange, we will care for you as much as you care for our patients. As a Mental Health Counselor,you will maintain a safe therapeutic milieu on inpatient psychiatric units. You will also conduct safety checks, monitor patients, assist with ADL’s, de-escalate acute situations, and provide supportive interactions with patients.

As a Mental Health Counselor, you will:

• Conduct patient observation and rounds.
• Assists staff with patient care while following treatment plans.
• Observe and monitor patient’s progress and reports observations to staff.
• Develop a therapeutic relationship with patients while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living skills, as necessary.
• Provide appropriate supervision of patients’ activities.
• Responsible for safety monitoring of patients of the unit.
• Process admissions belongings.
• Complete documentation in the EMR system.
• Work collaboratively with the Interdisciplinary Team

Mental Health Counselor candidates will have the following:

• High School Diploma. Bachelor’s degree in psychology or human services field preferred.
• Previous PCT/PCA, CNA or Medical Assistant experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree may be considered in lieu of experience.
• Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to develop a therapeutic relationship while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Previous experience in psychiatric or substance inpatient, restraint reduction de-escalation, and crisis intervention is preferred.

Pay Range

Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience.

$20.11 - $24.00
