Job summary

SRVS in Memphis, TN, is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support adolescent males in a structured program, using positive behavioral management principles, and to help ensure safety while exercising independent judgment during crisis situations.

You will assist the Lead Teacher with daily activities that promote cognitive, speech/language, motor, self-help, and social-emotional development, document progress, and help maintain a clean, safe classroom.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (Required).
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience caring for or working with young children.
• Basic knowledge of early childhood development and developmental milestones.
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate effectively under the guidance of the Lead Teacher and Director of Children's Services.
• Demonstrated patience, enthusiasm, and sound judgment in everyday and crisis situations.

Responsibilities

• Direct the daily activities of adolescent males within the program using positive behavioral management principles, maintaining safety, and exercising independent judgment during crisis situations.
• Daily Responsibilities: Classroom Support - Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily activities that foster cognitive, speech/language, fine/gross motor, self-help, and social-emotional development.
• Goal Progress & Documentation: Support the tracking and documentation of children’s progress aligned with Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) goals.
• Classroom Maintenance: Help setup classroom materials; maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment; and organize toys, equipment, and learning materials after sessions.
• Positive Environment: Build a nurturing, inclusive atmosphere for children and families while encouraging positive behavior management.
• Professional Engagement: Attend required staff meetings, professional development learning (PDL) sessions, and specialized trainings. Follow all program policies and safety protocols.
