Job summary

Virginia Oncology Associates in Virginia Beach and Suffolk is seeking an Admixture Tech to support our oncology pharmacies. This full-time, in-person role involves preparing medication orders by admixing meds under physician supervision, calculating correct dosage volumes, and ensuring orders are complete and properly authorized.

You will travel between offices as needed, maintain inventory and quality assurance, log all drugs, dispose of materials properly, and clean hoods per policy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years of pharmacy experience with IV skills preferred.
• IV certification strongly preferred.
• Willing to travel between offices as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepares admixture orders under physician supervision, calculating correct dosages.
• Verifies orders for completeness, patient information, and physician authorization.
• Checks orders for insurance approval before admixing.
• Disposes materials after mixing IVs; cleans hood per policy.
• Logs drugs and checks monthly outdates; performs QA activities.
• Maintains medication control documentation and inventory.
• Performs data entry into admixture systems.
• Orders medications and supplies as directed.

Overview

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for an Admixture Tech to support our offices located in Virginia Beach and Suffolk

Compensation Range: $17.10 - $36.76. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medication orders by admixing medications under the supervision of a physician, calculating correct dosage volumes
• Checks all orders for completeness of information, verifies patient information and proper physician authorization
• Checks all orders for insurance approval before admixing
• Properly disposes all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs. Cleans hood daily or as stated in policy and procedures
• Logs and dates all drugs being used. Checks drugs for monthly outdate and other quality assurance activities as assigned.
• Maintains proper control documentation of medications. Completes inventory control of medications
• Performs efficient data entry into systems used by admixture.
• Orders medication and supplies as directed

• Three to five years' experience in a pharmacy with IV skills preferred
• IV certification strongly preferred
• Experience with Lynx, Epic, Pyxis, Omnicellis preferred
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board preferred
• Willing to travel between offices as needed
