Job summary

Sierra Medical Center, part of Northern Nevada Health System, is seeking an Admissions Clerk to manage efficient inpatient, outpatient, and ED admissions. You will collect patient demographics, insurance details, and ensure policy awareness, entering data into our patient information system.

You will explain billing, patient rights, HIPAA, and visiting hours; collect co-pays when required and route payments to the business office. A High School diploma and strong customer service are required.

Qualifications

Job Description

Handlesthe efficient and orderly admission of inpatients, outpatients and emergency department admissions. Ensures that the patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer database. Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Responsible for obtaining all pertinent information including demographic and insurance information.
• Responsible for ensuring that all admissions forms are complete and accurate, spelling is correct. Applies patient labels to all necessary forms
• Provides information to the patient/representative about billing, complaint process, patient rights, HIPAA and visiting hours.
• Responsible, when previous arrangements have been made or a co-payment is required, to collect such payments, record payment and forward to the business office personnel
