UTHealth Houston is seeking a full-time Psychiatric Technician to support patient care within the Admissions milieu. This critical role involves supervising and interacting with patients, conducting safety rounds, and executing crisis management strategies. Candidates must possess at least a High School Diploma and relevant patient care experience, along with strong observational and communication skills. The Psychiatric Technician plays a vital role in supporting patient care within the Admissions milieu. Responsibilities include observing patient behavior, taking vital signs, and promptly reporting any abnormalities to the RN. The Psych Tech receives patient transfers from EMS, Constables, and Sheriffs, accepts and inventories transferred patient property, and ensures safety and appropriateness in the environment. The role requires strong observational skills and timely communication regarding patient behavior or safety concerns. Once patients are admitted, the Psych Tech transports them to their assigned units within the HCPC or Dunn buildings.

1 year of experience in a patient care environment, Mental Health Technician/Psychiatric Technician Certificate, CNA Certification, MA Certification, EMT Certification, Sixty hours of college credit in a related discipline, or successfully completed the Psychiatric Technician Internship program requiredPhysical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.Security Sensitive:
