Admissions Officer - On-Campus Recruitment

We are seeking an Admissions Officer - On-Campus Recruitment in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will be responsible for recruiting and conducting application reviews from a specified regional territory for the first year and transferring admission to the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering. In this role, the Admissions Officer serves as a public-facing ambassador for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Johns Hopkins University. The position will involve in-person and virtual recruitment and requires four to six weeks of off-campus travel a year. Some evening/weekend work required.

In addition to the core responsibilities of an Admissions Officer, this person will serve as a member of the On-campus Recruitment team. As part of this team, they will support our robust on-campus offerings, including group tours, special events, and daily visit programming. This role will also work closely with our student ambassador group, Blue Key Society.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for conducting recruitment and application review for an assigned region (domestic and/or international territory). Recruitment responsibilities include, but are not limited to,
  • Building relationships and hosting presentations in the market.
  • Visiting high schools and community organizations.
  • Developing knowledge and familiarity with the secondary school landscape in the region.
  • Leverage basic data analysis to manage decisions in a designated region(s) or area of study.
  • Conduct information sessions, support tours, and the visitor center as needed, and respond to routine requests from prospective applicants and families, as well as counselors.
  • Will be expected to represent and be knowledgeable about the academics, student experience, and financial aid programs at Hopkins.
  • Support programming and events staffing on and off campus as assigned.
  • Manage internal and external relationships: Faculty, counselors, prospective students and families, current students, university administrators, high school counselors, and alumni
  • Must be service and team-oriented and aware of the needs and concerns of a selective private university.
  • The Admissions Officer- On-Campus Recruitment will be part of a team that oversees our on-campus recruitment strategy. They will support the goal of increasing programming capacity and driving targeted prospective students to campus.


Special Knowledge, Skills, Or Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively with prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, faculty, and other university partners, as well as the ability to represent Johns Hopkins University to the public.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, independently, and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates the utmost level of professionalism with both internal and external constituents.
  • Knowledge of standard office software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.


Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel extensively and work nights and weekends as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a college or university admissions officer preferred, which would include recruitment and application review.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications. Education and Experience Equivalency

Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Applicants who do not meet the posted requirements but are completing their final academic semester/quarter will be considered eligible for employment and may be asked to provide additional information confirming their academic completion date.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
