Job summary

The University of Missouri - Columbia’s Office of Admissions is seeking a Student Support Specialist to handle evaluation and processing of student records, applications, and data for admissions. This role covers freshmen, transfers, visiting students, and readmission cases.

You will review applicant files to determine admissibility, communicate with applicants and parents, and coordinate with high school counselors. On-campus, Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; at least 1 year of related experience.
  • Review applicant files to determine admissibility and manage over 2,000 files.
  • Answer calls and emails; counsel applicants and parents; coordinate with high school counselors.

Job Description

This is analytical, detail-oriented work involving the evaluationand processing of student records, applications and other data forthe purposes of admission to the University. This includesapplications from freshman, transfers, visiting students, andstudents requesting readmission.

  • Review files of applicants, determining admissibility; requestand or prepare all correspondence to applicants and manage files ofmore than 2,000 applicants.
  • Answer telephone and e-mail correspondence. Counsel and giveadvice to applicants, and occasionally their parents, as well ascommunication with high school counselors regarding specificapplicant issues.
  • Process transfer and test credit evaluations, includingentering test score data into system.
  • Enter high school core courses, college courses, and other datafrom applications and transcripts, correct data and problem solvewith procedural and data entry problems.
Shift

M-F, 8am-5pm on the Mizzou campus

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education andexperience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparableknowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Requires clear understanding of higher education practices.Knowledge and experience with PeopleSoft, Slate, and documentimaging is preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $15.50 - $17.00 hourly

Grade: GGS-6
