Job description

This is a part-time (up to 25 hours per week) position.

SCOPE OF WORK: Provides various office and program support duties for the Student Services Department associated with departmental operations and student success.This position shall report to the Admissions and Enrollment Supervisor at NCC.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Performs general office support functions in the Student Services Department including taking meeting minutes, maintaining Admissions documents, preparing documents and reports, coordinating and scheduling events.
  • Assists with recruitment efforts including scheduling High School visits, organizing and scheduling program information sessions; maintaining promotional materials, mailings, post cards, letters to applicants; and engaging in outreach efforts with applicants through letters, phone calls, email, text, etc.
  • Assists with the social media presence of the department on Facebook and Instagram.
  • Maintains and updates database of current and potential students.
  • Prepares documents for advising and assists when necessary.
  • Tracks student progress to improve retention.
  • Responsible for communicating courteously and effectively with students, college personnel, and the public via phone, e-mail, written correspondence and in person.
  • Assists the Admissions team with email inquiries and voice mailbox messages.
  • Utilizes various software programs/databases for communications, data entry, updating and tracking student progress etc.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with college faculty, staff and administration.
  • Tracks applicant progress to streamline process, maintains student applicant documents.
  • Attends workshops, seminars, and conferences for professional development.
  • Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent credential. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience : Five years of experience in a responsible customer service, public service, or related clerical position.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in an academic institution preferred.

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of office record keeping and reporting. Ability to gather, assemble, correlate and analyze facts and identify existing or potential problems. Ability to contribute to the development of sound operational procedures. Ability to exercise sound judgment in appraising situations and making routine decisions. Ability to follow specific instructions in gathering facts, data, or resources in organizing required information. Ability to meet with students and the public and explain programs sponsored by the department or agency in which the position is located. Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
