Job summary

Select Medical's Quad Cities facility is seeking an Admissions Coordinator to join the Business Development Team on-site, Monday–Friday 8–5. You will manage referral intake, coordinate admissions, and ensure smooth patient transition from referral to bed assignment.

Responsibilities include verifying Medicare benefits, assessing secondary insurance, and communicating with case managers and physicians to prepare for admission. A strong emphasis on patient-first service and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a hospital, physician practice or insurance environment.
• Knowledge of Medical terminology.
• Direct experience in third party insurance verification and Medicare benefits.
• Experience as a customer service representative for health insurance.
• Experience obtaining prior authorizations.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Lead conversion calls with Business Development each morning.
• Verify Medicare benefits and secondary insurance for referrals.
• Enter referral, admission, denial, and conversion data.
• Ensure deficiencies remain at 0% to keep the hospital financially viable.
• Coordinate data with clinical liaisons, case managers, and physicians to prepare for admission.
• Oversee admissions day equipment, medications and room setup.
• Physically admit patient and provide a facility tour.

Pay Range: $21-$29 per hour based on directly correlated years of experience with Insurance Verification and Prior Authorizations

Responsibilities

What an Admissions Coordinator Does

The Admissions Coordinator serves as a member of the Business Development Team through managing the referral intake and admission of all patients. You will stay in close communication with all departments to prepare for the day of admission.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Conversion Call with Business Development team each morning.
• Verify Medicare benefits and secondary/supplemental insurance plans of all referred patients as they arrive in Transitions of Care (TOC).
• Enter accurate referral, admission, denial and/or conversion data using various online programs and databases.
• Ensure all deficiencies remain at 0% to eliminate holds and keep the hospital financially viable.
• Communicate relevant data to clinical liaisons, case managers, prior authorization team, and physicians to help prepare for admission.
• Point of coordinator on day of admissions to guarantee that all equipment, medication and other necessities are present in the patient’s room.
• Physically admit patient. Then, give a tour of the facility. Finally, receive signed consent to treat forms and file.

• Knowledge of Medical terminology.

Preferred skills that will make you a successful Admissions Coordinator:

• Direct experiencein third party insurance verification and knowledge of how benefits under the Medicare program are applied.
• Previous experience as a customer service representative for a health insurance company or provider.
• Previous experiencewith obtaining prior authorizations.
• A High School Diploma or GED.
