Job Description

The Admissions Advisor is a key member of the Enrollment and Integrated Marketing organization at Texas State Technical College (TSTC). This role contributes significantly to our mission of placing Texans into high-paying jobs. The Admissions Advisor executes internal and external activities to attract applicants and supports them through the admissions process. Reporting directly to the Team Lead of Admissions, the Advisor serves as a vital contributor with some supervision.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  1. Core Values Demonstration: Consistently embody TSTC Core Values (Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity) in interactions with stakeholders, customers, students, and the community.
  2. Advisory Role: Assist prospective and new applicants in identifying suitable programs, guide them through the admissions process, and help with financing options including FAFSA completion.
  3. Student Enrollment Growth: Manage a student applicant caseload, providing personalized advisement, answering questions, and troubleshooting needs related to admissions.
  4. Collaboration Across Departments: Work with departments such as Veteran Services, Financial Aid, Registrar's Office, and Student Services to support applicants and enhance their experience.
  5. Compliance and Record Management: Stay updated on FAFSA, FERPA, and record-keeping practices.
  6. Community Engagement: Attend community events, including high schools, to promote TSTC and provide program information.
  7. Technology Utilization: Use software to track outreach, maintain records, and generate engagement and admission reports.
  8. Admissions and Administrative Duties: Handle document collection, uploading, quality review, and other related tasks as assigned.

Travel Requirements:
  • Up to 25% travel during work hours.
  • Occasional overnight travel up to 5%.
  • Availability on nights and weekends may be required.

Education & Experience:
  • Associate's Degree required; exceptional experience may substitute.
  • Preferred: Experience as an Enrollment Coach or in higher education recruitment/admissions.
Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting at a desk and working on a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional reaching, pulling, bending, and lifting up to 15 lbs.
