Job summary

Recovery Centers of America in Indianapolis is seeking an Admissions Therapist to create a five-star first impression for patients and families entering our inpatient treatment program.

You will facilitate and evaluate therapeutic, medical, and financial arrangements for those seeking treatment for substance use, and ensure thorough documentation of presenting problems, needs, and insurance coverage when indicated.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree with required credentials (LSW/LMFT-A/LMHC-A or LMFT/LMHC/LCSW/LCAC)
  • One to three years in behavioral health/substance use settings
  • Admissions experience in substance abuse services preferred
  • Knowledge of ASAM criteria for Level of Care (3.7 and 3.5)
  • HIPAA policies and procedures knowledge
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate clients' mental and physical health, addiction, or problem behavior and assess readiness for treatment
  • Review and recommend treatment options with clients and families
  • Provide orientation to program aspects post admission and data input into the system
  • Ensure financial eligibility setup
  • Maintain documents and logs, fair distribution of patients to physicians
  • Coordinate referral and intake process and determine level of care
  • Collect and analyze data related to department performance indicators
  • Assist with admission searches and crisis intervention as needed

Job description

"A former patient may not be hired at the same location where they were treated until a minimum of one year has elapsed since the completion of their treatment at that location. Former patients may be considered for employment at other RCA locations within a year after treatment. This consideration will be subject to the standard hiring process and must not compromise ethical standards, patient care, or the reputation of RCA."

Position Overview

The Admissions Therapist is responsible for creating a five-star first impression of RCA with the patients and families entering treatment at the inpatient facility level. The Admissions Therapist will facilitate and evaluate therapeutic, medical, and financial arrangements of patients and their families seeking treatment for a substance use disorder. The Admissions Therapist is responsible for thorough documentation of patients presenting problems, needs, and risk related to substance abuse and co-occurring problems and obtain insurance coverage for treatment (when indicated).

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate clients' mental and physical health, addiction, or problem behavior and assess their readiness for treatment
  • Review and recommend treatment options with clients and their families
  • Provides appropriate orientation to program aspects post admission, including documentation and data input into computer system.
  • Ensures financial eligibility setup
  • Assures prompt responses to patient needs, reviews and maintains all documents and departmental logs, and ensures fair distribution of patients to physicians.
  • Provides telephone and in person assessments and, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.
  • Collects and analyzes data related to departmental performance indicators.
  • Assists with admission searches, safety search and personal belongings as needed.
  • Assists counselors and other senior program staff in crisis intervention as needed.
  • Additional duties as requested.
Skills And Education
  • Master's degree w the following credentialing (LSW, LMFT-A, LMHC-A, and LAC) required or LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, and LCAC preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in a behavioral healthcare or substance abuse settings serving culturally diverse populations.
  • Admissions experience in substance abuse services preferred.
  • Knowledge of ASAM criteria for Level of Care (3.7 and 3.5)
  • Knowledge of HIPAA policies and procedures
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to twenty-five pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
