Job description

Admission and Student Teaching Approval Coordinator, Teacher Educator Certification Office

Individuals in this classification are responsible for admitting students to Teacher Education, approving student teacher applications, and managing student teaching placements. Serving as the point person for students, faculty, cooperating educators, and school administrators, the individual in this position has knowledge of Nebraska policies and strong communication skills. The employee also ensures data is collected for annual accreditation reports. The ability to work independently and interpret data is vital. Advanced technology skills, especially with Microsoft products, are important to aid in managing and sharing data.

Technical expertise in several applications is required, some of which require advanced skills. The coordinator serves as the primary contact for imaging software, including training others, troubleshooting, and answering questions. Requires advanced knowledge of Microsoft products, especially Excel and Word. Creates and maintains multiple Qualtrics surveys.

  1. Evaluates applications and approves students into Teacher Education and student teaching, maintaining and interpreting data in MyBlue, spreadsheets, and Qualtrics. Contacts students regarding admission status. Serves as the point person for students and faculty advisors.
  2. Coordinates and manages data related to student teaching, including contracts, spreadsheets (requiring advanced Excel skills), teacher candidate placements, and supervisor caseloads. Acts as the point person for students, cooperating educators, supervisors, and school administrators. Applies Nebraska Department of Education Rules 20, 21, and 24 pertaining to student teaching. Assists in planning and executing Student Teaching Professional Development Days and Supervisor Training Workshops, including processing financials. Familiarity with Nebraska schools is important.
  3. Creates timelines for cyclical processes.
  4. Serves as primary contact for imaging software, providing training, troubleshooting, and support. Keeps current with Microsoft Office updates. Creates and maintains multiple Qualtrics surveys.
  5. Performs general office duties such as opening and closing the office, answering phones, assisting walk-in traffic, and maintaining an orderly and professional environment. Trains and supervises student workers. Collaborates with other COEOAs and the dean’s administrative staff to support various departmental duties.
  6. Supports and collaborates with other COEOAs and administrative staff as assigned.
Required Qualifications

High school diploma (or equivalent), proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong general computer skills, effective oral and written communication, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to confidentiality and reliability. Ability to work independently and interpret data is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or five years of office experience preferred. Experience with imaging software, Qualtrics, Microsoft products, and prior employment at a university or college highly valued. Candidates with office associate experience or comparable education and experience in related fields are encouraged to apply. Experience with AI is a plus.
