Responsibilities

  • Prepare grants and external funding applications for Adult Education and School-to-Work programs.
  • Assist with implementation of new Adult/Community Education and School-to-Work programs.
  • Identify staffing needs, equipment, and support to implement assigned special projects.
  • Coordinate all aspects of assigned special projects.
  • Recommend specifications for new equipment and collaborate on renovations/improvements to facilities.
  • Coordinate the activities of the Adult Education Advisory Committee.
  • Evaluate all non-tenured and tenured personnel involved in the programs.
  • Assist in coordination of in-service and professional development for personnel.
  • Coordinate development and implementation of career/job placement programs.
  • Review applications, interview candidates and make recommendations for personnel.
  • Prepare reports regarding budget and funding sources.
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget reflecting internal and external funding resources.

SUPERVISES:
JOB GOAL:

Directing and coordinating Adult Education and Adult Education Initiatives and assigned Special Projects.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To coordinate the development and evaluation of curriculum for Adult Education and School-to-Work programs and make recommendations to the Assistant Superintendent for improvements.
  • To coordinate the preparation of public relations materials to expand the community's general knowledge of the Adult and Community Education programs.
  • To coordinate the preparation of grants and external funding applications for Adult Education and School-to-Work programs in accordance with district and grantor guidelines.
  • To assist with the implementation, following Board approval, of new Adult/Community Education and School-to-Work programs.
  • To assist in the identification of staffing needs, equipment, and other support, as needed, to implement assigned special projects.
  • To coordinate all aspects, as delegated, in assigned special projects.
  • To assist in the development of recommendations for specifications for new equipment and, in collaboration with the Board's Facilities Committee and Plant Services, make recommendations to the Assistant Superintendent for renovations and/or improvement to existing facilities as needed to implement the Adult Education and/or School-to-Work programs.
  • To coordinate the activities of the Adult Education Advisory Committee.
  • To coordinate the evaluation of all non-tenured and tenured personnel involved in the Adult Education and School-to-Work programs.
  • To assist in the coordination of in-service and professional development programs for all Adult Education and School-to-Work personnel.
  • To coordinate the development and implementation of career/job placement programs.
  • To review applications, interview candidates and make recommendations for personnel to be assigned to the Adult Education programs.
  • To prepare reports regarding budget, as required by state, federal, local, grantor or other external funding sources.
  • To assist in the preparation of the annual budget, reflecting internal and external funding resources for the Adult Education/School-to-Work program and activities, and special projects, as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

EVALUATION: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instructions

SALARY: $68 per hours

WORK DAYS & HOURS: Monday - Thursday 5:00 PM - 8 PM

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

Under New Jersey's "New Jersey First Act" (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7), all employees of New Jersey public school districts must maintain bona fide New Jersey residency as a condition of employment. Candidates must already reside in New Jersey or establish residency within the required timeframe after hire. Current employees who were hired on or before September 1, 2011, are exempt from this requirement and may continue to reside outside the state. In limited circumstances, applicants may request a residency waiver through the state's Employee Residency Review Committee if they can demonstrate critical need or hardship; approval is not guaranteed.
