Job Details

Location: Fulton State Hospital, Health Information Management Department (HIMD), 600 East 5th Street, Fulton, MO

Position Overview: The Release of Information Specialist (ROI) provides support to departments, programs, and services for patients with mental illness. This highly responsible position requires applying laws, rules/regulations, and exclusions governing confidentiality of medical records and release of patient information. Responsibilities include evaluating, screening, and processing outside requests for release of patient records, ensuring compliance with laws, facilitating meetings, and training/advising ward clerks in CIMOR and filing duties. The ROI Specialist manages schedules, takes minutes for hospital-wide meetings, and maintains confidentiality adhering to federal, state, HIPAA, and hospital policies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, laws, and regulations governing privacy and release of information
  • Knowledge of computer programs
  • Strong communication skills
