Job description

The purpose of this class is to provide professional level administrative support services to an assigned department or program.

Qualifications include a high school diploma/GED with five years of related office experience, or an Associate’s Degree with three years of related office experience. Candidates must have knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office applications, and must complete and pass Microsoft testing modules in Word and Excel, demonstrating the ability to type 30 wpm. Candidates with proof of current Microsoft Office Expert Specialist Certification are exempt from testing.

Compensation within the posted range is determined by education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.

The CDL driving range is located at the CCBC Transportation Training Center (TTC) near the Dundalk campus.

  • Assist and provide information to students, faculty, administrators, and the college community.
  • Assist in planning meetings, special events, and with special projects.
  • Serve as liaison between the department or program and other offices or organizations.
  • Research, analyze, and process data into college systems.
  • Maintain records and files.
  • Answer, screen, and direct telephone calls.
  • Compile reports, documents, forms, and correspondence.
  • Create and track check requests, requisitions, work orders, and other request forms.
  • Process and manage all relevant course, program, and personnel paperwork.

  • Assist and provide consistent service and support to students, instructional specialists, faculty, administrators, and visitors.
  • Execute routine communications with local, state, and federal agencies, private sector contract training, employer contacts, and industry representatives.
  • Conduct routine orientation sessions, answering typical student inquiries.
  • Interview potential students for referral to the coordinator.
  • Research and evaluate questions/issues, referring unresolved matters to the respective specialist or coordinator.
  • Assist with preparing training materials.
  • Maintain security of confidential student and instructor records, certificates, and licensing exam sheets supporting the MVA's Employer Tester Program.
  • Track CDL student progress through a database.
  • Contact students with training reminders and announcements.
  • Generate and monitor service calls for equipment, technology, offices, and facilities.

Other duties may be assigned as needed.
