Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision to Agricultural Inspectors and coordinates testing and surveillance activities.
  • Monitors and approves leave, timesheets, and conducts evaluations.
  • Maintains knowledge of state and federal regulations enforced by the department.
  • Coordinates and assists Office of State Veterinarian at events and activities.
  • Assists in developing and training staff for job duties including emergency responses.

We are looking for a Administrative Supervisor, in Office of State Vet's Office, Division of Regulatory FieldServices, Disease Surveillance and Control Section 1.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides direct supervision to Agricultural Inspectors assigned to their area to includetesting of livestock, tagging, and quarantine if necessary. Inspects stockyards and renderingplants. Coordinates Poultry testing and surveillance. Coordinates Deer movements and inspections.Develops andapproves weekly assignments for each inspector.
  • Monitors and approves leave request, timesheets, and completes performance evaluations onemployees.
  • Maintains a proficient working knowledge of the state and federal regulations that Departmentof Agriculture, Animal Health division enforce.
  • Coordinates and assists Office of State Veterinarian in working events. Attends and worksevents and activities assigned by Branch Manager and/or senior leadership.
  • Assists in developing and training of employees in their area for job related duties includingemergency responses.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of professional administrative experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in public or business administration or a related field will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
