Qualifications

Job Summary:

Are you an Accountant? Do you have experience working within a business or budgeting office? Come join our outstanding finance team, The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is looking for a detailed oriented Budget Analyst. This position is responsible for monitoring, balancing, tracking, and analyzing the budgets and funds for a prison complex.

Job Duties:
  • Performs numerous budgeting and funding activities
  • Researches and prepares a variety of financial reports
  • Monitors and projects costs
  • Reviews and approves purchase requests, vendor payments, travel settlements, and other financial transactions
  • Ensures transactions are entered into Fund Control systems

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Principles, practices, and management of budgeting, accounting, fiscal, business administration, and budgetary control
  • Report writing techniques
  • Statistical analysis and theory
  • General office practices and procedures
  • General Accounting Office (GAO), General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), state, federal, and ADCRR policies, procedures, and procurement regulations
  • Proper maintenance of financial records and preparation of budget reports and other mandated reports

Selective Preference(s):
  • Two (2) years of experience in accounting or budgeting positions
  • Experience in-person computer functions and operation, spreadsheet software, or automated computer system use
Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and a drug test.

Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements.

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
