The Procurement Services Division at LAUSD seeks to provide schools and administrative offices with goods and services they need- when they need them. In doing this, we must ensure procurement laws are followed and the District achieves the most cost effective prices for goods and services.
The Administrative Services Manager plans, coordinates, and administers staff service functions for a large organization, including budgetpreparation, control and analysis of expenditures, and may perform a variety of other activities, such aspersonnel and records management, organizational and procedural analysis, and liaison with supportservices and outside contractors.
General direction is received from a division head or other administrator. General supervision isexercised over technical and clerical employees.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the initiative to learn complex operations, navigate undocumented processes, and identify practical improvements with limited direction.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to organize, analyze, and present financial, statistical, and operational information accurately.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports, social media content, notifications, and other materials with internal and external audiences.
A high degree of accuracy, attention to detail with no spelling or formatting errors, and commitment to delivering polished work in a fast-paced environment with demanding quality standards.
Adaptability, self-management, and the ability to remain composed and effective under sustained pressure.

PROMOTIONAL STATUS IS REQUIRED
You must be a current or retired employee of LAUSD with 130 paid days in regular status in the Classified Service or permanent status in the Certificated Service or have been laid-off within the past 39 months from a regular, permanent LAUSD position in which you passed probation. Laid-off employees' eligibility as a promotional candidate expires at the end of their 39 month period; as such, laid-off employees applying for promotional career opportunities may not be eligible to complete the assessment process or may be removed from the employment eligibility list once their eligibility as a promotional candidate expires.
EDUCATION:Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree preferably in business,school, or public administration or a related field of emphasis. Courses in accounting and dataprocessing are preferable. Experience in addition to that listed below may be substituted for up totwo (2) years of the required education on a year-for-year basis.
EXPERIENCE:Six (6) years experience at and/or above the journey-level that included responsibility for such activities as budgeting, cost accounting, administrative analysis and control, data systems analysis, contractual relations, and personnel relations. Two (2) years must have been in a supervisory capacityin a school district. Graduate study in public or business administration or school businessmanagement may be substituted for the nonsupervisory experience on a year-for-year basis.
Special: A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of California and use of amotor vehicle.

Selection and promotion are based on a competitive employment assessment process. Candidates who pass all parts of the assessment process are placed on a hiring (eligibility) list based on their assessment score. Hiring departments may make job offers to candidates on the top three ranks of the hiring list. Eligibility typically lasts for 12 months. The hiring list resulting from this assessment process may be used to fill open positions in related job classifications.
