The Department of Nursing Strategic Initiatives team, supporting U of U Health's Chief Nursing Executive and nursing workforce of 8,500, is seeking a Communications Coordinator. Reporting to the Special Projects Manager and partnering closely with the Strategic Communications Specialist, this role maintains the department's communications infrastructure — blog, websites, and templates — and produces content such as presentations, meeting collateral, and multimedia materials. The Coordinator translates priorities into finished materials quickly and accurately, with a strong eye for visual detail and consistency. This fast-paced role requires excellent organizational skills, sound judgment on what's ready to publish, and regular, professional interface with departments and staff across the health system.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Oversees daily program operations and coordinates program activities.
  • Develops and implements program goals and objectives.
  • Monitors program quality and effectiveness, and researches improvement methods.
  • Establishes program budget, monitors and approves related expenditures, and ensures budget goals are met.
  • Assists with fundraising activities.
  • Advises staff, students, and others, regarding program policies, goals and related technical issues.
  • Prepares reports, financial statements, as well as reports on program status, and progress for management, and outside agencies.
  • Writes and edits program related publications, and promotional or educational materials.
  • Oversees others who schedule meetings, seminars, and other program related functions.
  • Acts as a liaison between internal and external constituencies involved in program activities.
  • Works collaborative with the director and department staff in supporting departmental project needs.
  • May assign, direct, and review work of support staff.
  • Maintains and updates the department blog and website(s), keeping content current and accurate.
  • Produces presentations, meeting collateral, and other materials for executive leadership and strategic initiatives.
  • Uses design and productivity software to create clean, professional visuals and layouts.
  • Manages multiple content projects at once, prioritizing quickly to meet shifting deadlines.
  • Coordinates with subject matter experts and leadership to gather content, then edits for clarity and brand consistency.
  • Checks materials for accuracy and consistency before publication or distribution.
  • Executes work within established templates, style guides, and team direction.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalency.
  • One year of directly related experience.

Qualifications (Preferred)
  • Proficiency in graphic design and multimedia content development software and platforms, with the ability to create engaging visual and digital communications.
