Administrative Operations Manager for the 2025-26 School Year

City Garden Montessori School (City Garden) is the only Montessori charter school in Missouri, and we are one of the highest-performing charter schools in the state. Our team possesses passion and determination to implement the Montessori approach to educating children in a diverse, public school environment. Located in St. Louis, Missouri, City Garden is in its 17th year as a charter school, having received a second 10 Year Charter with the state of Missouri in 2017. We began in 2008 with 53 students; now, we have over 600 children in preschool through eighth grade. As we grow, we continue to seek individuals to join us who share our vision for academic excellence for all children and holistic Montessori education, rooted in equity and social justice.

About the Position

The Building Operations Manager (BOM) is responsible for supporting, implementing, and managing all non-academic operational aspects of the school building and school day. They will build on a student-centered environment that fosters relationships and promotes continual growth for students and staff.

The BOM will report to the COO and will also partner with the Lead Building Operations Manager, the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) principal and staff, and the network administrative team. This is a 12-month administrative position.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise administrative and maintenance staff assigned to your building, such as:
  • School Administrative Assistant / Front Desk
  • Other administrative support staff
  • Maintenance personnel
  • Manage logistics and daily coordination of:
  • Arrival
  • Dismissal
  • Supporting teacher breaks and absences
  • Staffing Responsibilities
  • Assist HR with onboarding new staff
  • Assign support staff as needed
  • Develop contingency plans for staff outages; secure substitutes
  • Participate in hiring support staff
  • School Records and Data
  • Support entry, accuracy, and integrity of student records and data (e.g., Infinite Campus SIS)
  • Building Management
  • Daily inspection of property for safety and cleanliness
  • Coordinate with cleaning vendors
  • Establish a culture of cleanliness with staff
  • Ensure safety and compliance inspections are scheduled and completed
  • School Safety
  • Establish, schedule, and enforce safety procedures
  • Schedule safety drills (fire, tornado, intruder, earthquake, etc.)
  • Create safe entry/exit procedures for staff, visitors, and vendors
  • Information Technology

Serve as primary contact for facility-related technical issues (computers, HVAC, alarms, WIFI, etc.)

  • Oversight and Support

  • Plan and execute school events (professional development, report card nights, family events, etc.)
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s preferred
  • 3-5 years of professional experience; 2+ years in a public school support role preferred
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Experience supervising and evaluating staff
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with diverse populations and commitment to anti-bias practices
  • Child-centered, flexible, team-oriented
  • Resourceful with good judgment
  • Ability to multi-task with attention to detail
Compensation

Salary range: $48,000 - $55,000, based on education and experience.
