Scope of Position

The Supervisor is primarily responsible for administering nursing operations within The James Cancer Hospital and Research Institute during off-shift hours, including weekends and holidays. The Administrative Nursing Supervisor enforces hospital, nursing, and medical policies and procedures. The Ohio State University Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality of care our patients receive.

Position Summary

Supervising the immediate care of patients during a given tour of duty, which includes making rounds to all patient care areas. Obtains reports from charge nurses and remains knowledgeable of current patient statuses. Supervises nursing personnel on duty and contributes to their evaluation, recommending personnel actions to the nurse manager, including disciplinary measures or termination. Coordinates nursing activities with related departments and acts as a liaison to OSUH. Provides information for staffing needs. Serves as The James Cancer Hospital & Research Institute representative during crises, emergencies, or unusual situations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Ohio licensure.
• Progressively responsible hospital nursing experience in administration and supervision.
• BSN required.
• ACLS certification preferred.
