Banner Health is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant in a hybrid capacity to support PCPs and Specialty Clinics in Northern Colorado. You will answer patient calls, process medication refills, referrals, and imaging orders, and help identify care gaps before patient encounters.

The ideal candidate will live in Northern Colorado, have an Accredited Medical Assisting Program, MA certification, and BLS. Strong computer and EHR skills are required with remote-work flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant Certification required; 12 months to obtain if not on hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform chart reviews to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Identify care gaps using evidence-based guidelines and standing orders.
  • Utilize EHR to obtain medical information for patient care discussions.
  • Collaborate with care team to meet performance metrics and quality measures.
  • Maintain clinical skills; onboarding/orientation activities and ACED participation as needed.

This role will support answering calls for patients for PCP's and Specialty Clinics. This role will be responsible for supporting patients with medication refills, sending messages, referrals and processing imaging orders.*The preferred candidate for this position will live in Northern Colorado and have a strong Medical Assisting background working in the clinic environment.Shift Details:-Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm-Initial day of orientation in person with additional quarterly in-person requirements for meetings.Location:-Must be located in Northern Colorado to support on-site requirements, when needed.-Will primarily work remote. We currently have more than 1,000 physicians and more than 3,500 total employees in our group and are seeking others to enhance our ability to deliver our nonprofit mission of providing excellent patient care.POSITION SUMMARYThis position is responsible for performing administrative tasks (indirect care) that support the care team in providing direct medical care. This position utilizes the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and external resources or tools to provide a complete assessment of the patient’s health status, which includes identifying care gaps prior to the patient encounter. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and communication skills to assure that patients get the indicated care when and where they need and want it, in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner. Patient contact via telephone is a critical component of this position, highlighting the medical background and communication skills necessary.CORE FUNCTIONS1. Performs chart review to ensure coordinated patient care.2. Utilizes evidence based guidelines when identifying care gaps for preventative and maintenance care. Utilizes standing orders as appropriate.3. Utilizes EHR to obtain medical information when communicating with the patient or medical care team regarding respective preventative care, chronic care, specific medications, high risk patients, and those not seen recently in the clinic.4. Collaborates with care team to meet expected performance metrics and clinical quality measures. Identifies areas for improvement based on results of clinical performance where applicable.5. Maintains clinical skills and provides direct patient care on an as needed basis. Completes all necessary on-boarding/orientation activities, including simulation training, as needed or directed. Participates in Annual Clinical Education Days (ACED), as needed or directed.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Knowledge as normally obtained through graduation from an Accredited Medical Assisting Program. Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.Medical Assistant Certification is required. If certification is not in hand at the time of hire, individuals will have 12 months from date of hire to obtain certification.Certification for BLS is required.Requires strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software. Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Requires the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience with office medical procedures and treatments and knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR and scheduling software preferred.Additional related education and/or experience preferred.Estimated Pay Range:$21.01 - $31.51 / hour Banner Health is committed to pay equity and transparency. This range is based on possible base salaries and does not include the value of our total rewards package.
