Basic Function
To provide a comprehensive range of office and administrative support; perform assignments that require specialized technical skills; duties that require independent judgment and decision-making; tasks include a broad range of complex clerical and administrative duties and projects; and to perform related duties as assigned.
The current vacancy is in the Client Support/Community Engagement Unit in the department of Fiscal Services. The eligibility list created by this vacancy may be used to hire other vacancies in the department or County.
This position supports the Health and Wellness Service Team by distributing benefits like cash, gift cards, and transportation cards to residents and maintaining accurate records of these transactions. It involves managing daily reports, reconciling inventories, balancing petty cash, and ensuring timely receipt returns from workers. The role requires regular use of MS Office, County and State software systems, and SharePoint to track benefits and support departmental processes. Additional duties include assisting with mail, accounts payable requests, and special projects for other units.
We are currently hiring for a position within Children and Family Services in the Department of Social Services. This role plays a vital part in supporting the Deputy Director, contributing to the department’s mission to serve and strengthen families in our community. (Amended 6/11)
This position is identified under the designation of ‘flex work eligible’, meaning that the employee can formally opt to be in-office full-time or work a flex schedule in which at least two-days per week are performed in office and other days can be performed in a remote-first environment. Regardless of selection, the position carries expectations regarding on-site responsibilities and will require schedule flexibility beyond the minimum expectations set forth in the county’s flexible workplace policy. Examples of Work Performed
- Provide oversight and work direction for daily operations of a clerical or technical group.
- Develop written operating procedures, identify and resolve work flow issues.

- Perform public contact duties such as receiving and routing telephone calls, responding to complaints and inquiries by telephone and in person, directing clients or visitors to proper locations, scheduling appointments for clients or staff and assigning service requests to program units or staff in accordance with established guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school graduation or equivalent.
Experience: Seven years of clerical or administrative experience, including three years as a Clerk 3 or equivalent.
Substitution: Four years of post-secondary education can be substituted for the clerical or administrative experience on a year for year basic for up to four years of experience required.
Certifications/Licensure: None.
Exam/Screening Process Information
The examination process will consist of the following section with each section weighted as indicated:

The examination for Administrative Assistant, Senior will consist of a training and experience rating, comprised of the questions in the attached supplemental questionnaire. Not all applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will pass the training and experience rating. The rating on this supplemental questionnaire will depend on your answers to the questions – do not mark “see resume” or “see work history” Do not cut and paste resume as a response. Please answer all your questions clearly and completely. Failure to respond could affect your score and final rank on this examination.
The names of all applicants who filed a properly completed application and passed the examination/screening process shall be placed on the eligible list for an employment opportunity as a Administrative Assistant, Principal This list will be certified to the appointing authority which may use this list to conduct interviews to fill a vacancy. Candidates will remain on the list for 30 days or until hired, whichever occurs first. A notice will be sent to applicants at the time the eligible list is posted, informing them that the list has been posted and their rank on the list.
Veteran's Preference: This is a classified position requiring an open, competitive selection process. Veteran's Preference points will be applied after a candidate passes the examination process.
