The Ninth Judicial Circuit Court seeks a proactive Administrative Assistant for the Orange County Branch Courthouses. The role includes providing varied administrative support to judges and hearing officers, showcasing excellent interpersonal and computer skills. This position works with the Civil Traffic Infraction Hearing Officers and County Judges assigned to the Orange County Branch Courthouses. The Administrative Assistant provides a variety of secretarial and administrative support and must exercise a high degree of judgment, tact, and diplomacy. This position supports the Orange County Branch Courthouses, located in Apopka, Winter Park, and Ocoee. The headquarters for this location will be the Apopka Branch Courthouse with some travel between the other branch courthouses.
The ideal candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and be self–motivated but also able to work closely with others. Good computer and excellent interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to quickly acquire proficiency with a variety of computer programs, including the clerk case management system and superior organization skills are required. Capacity to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with others, including judges, coworkers, government officials, law enforcement, clerks’ office and the public is essential.Responsible for office tasks of high responsibility and independently develops work methods. Effective use of business English, spelling, grammar, and punctuation is imperative. Perform routine tasks, such as screening telephone calls, providing information, resolving issues, and directing matters to proper traffic court hearing officer, composing correspondence, distributing mail, photocopying, and sending faxes. Prepare orders and responses per directives from hearing officers, manage docket, set and reset cases. Manage incoming correspondence for hearing officers’ attention. Other duties as assigned, to include assisting and preparing and distributing the docket for the judges assigned to the branch courthouses.
A Bachelor’s Degree in public or business administration, or a closely related field is preferred; however, additional relevant experience in business administration, office skills, or a related field may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis.
$19.26/hr. This is an Orange County-funded position with benefits. Travel is not compensated. Full time position, 40 hours per week. Deadline to apply: Open until filled.
