The Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office (AMCO) are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable employee to join our team. Your primary responsibility will be delivering exceptional, personalized customer service to everyone who walks through our doors or reaches out by phone. Your duties will include guiding applicants through the alcohol permit intake process and efficiently creating marijuana handler permits with accuracy and care.
AMCO’s mission is to enforce alcohol and marijuana commerce laws and provide clear, consistent standards for licensure to protect the public from harm.
You will play a crucial role in supporting the AMCO team by ensuring permits are processed swiftly, accurately, and with consistent professionalism—directly contributing to safer, well-regulated communities across Alaska.
You’ll collaborate with a team of deeply dedicated, hard-working professionals united by a shared mission: enforcing Alaska’s alcohol and marijuana regulations to safeguard the health and safety of communities across the state.
You will join a friendly, close-knit three-person administrative team based in Anchorage, located on the 16th floor of the State of Alaska’s Atwood Building—with a stunning view of the inlet to greet you each day. You’ll be just steps away from the park strip for refreshing summer walks and within easy reach of plenty of great lunch spots. And with ample covered parking in the Linny Pacillo garage, you can enjoy winter afternoons without ever having to brush snow off your car.
Six months of advanced clerical experience. This experience includes work such as Office Assistant 2, Accounting Clerk, and similar classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.
OR
Six months of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience. (Three semester or four quarter hours of post-secondary education are equal to one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education are equal to one month of experience.)
If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications, you must fill in the Education section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of units completed. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position.
