Position Summary

San Diego State University is seeking an experienced Finance and HR Coordinator. This role reports directly to the Interim Chief Student Development Officer and is pivotal in managing departmental funds and human resource functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage departmental funds, including accounting, purchasing, and preparation and review of fiscal and accounting forms. Serve as the budget officer and liaison to staff in the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity.
  • Oversee processing of personnel records for full-time staff and student employees, including payroll, attendance reports, and other HR forms and documents.
  • Ensure effective coordination and communication at all levels within the organization and campus community, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

Position Information

  • This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
  • This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
  • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience with Accounting software, such as Oracle, Banner (MyRF), PeopleSoft, Adaptive, etc.
  • At least two years working with fiscal and/or human resource administration in higher education.
  • One year experience with contracts, procurement, and payables functions.
  • Master’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Accounting or other related field.
  • Minimum two years’ experience working in the CSU or San Diego State University is preferred.
  • One year Project Management or other related analysis/operations experience is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $5,800 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
