Germanna Community College is seeking adjunct faculty to teach Administration of Justice courses. This pool is for anticipated needs in the 2027 academic year and assignments depend on enrollment and program needs.

Adjunct instructors plan and deliver courses, engaging students with a range of backgrounds. Candidates should be able to teach in person and online, and complete Canvas/TOP 2.2 prior to teaching. Salary is per credit hour and varies by rank.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in the discipline or a Master’s Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in Administration of Justice, Criminal Justice, Criminology, or related discipline.
• Official transcripts required prior to final offer.
• Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching.
• Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment with consistent virtual communication.
• Teach in a variety of modalities including face-to-face and virtually; remote teaching capability.

Job Description

Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. This posting is intended to establish a pool of qualified adjunct candidates for anticipated instructional needs for 2027. Actual hiring and course assignments are contingent upon enrollment, scheduling demands, program needs, and funding availability. As a result, there may or may not be positions filled from this posting.

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. We are currently seeking adjunct faculty members to teach Administration of Justice courses.
Please note: This wide salary range reflects the diverse faculty ranks within the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Final salary determination and placement within this range are based on the candidate's academic credentials and occupational experience as evaluated via the VCCS-10 process.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in the discipline or a Master’s Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in Administration of Justice, Criminal Justice, Criminology, or related discipline
• Official transcripts will be required prior to final offer
• Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication
• Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success.
• Technology capability (stable access to the Internet, computers) to teach remotely when applicable
• All teaching positions of Germanna Community College require the ability to teach in a variety of modalities including face-to-face and virtually
• Demonstrate competency and commitment to continuous professional development in the discipline and in virtual education.
• Complete Growing with Canvas and TOP 2.2 prior to teaching

Additional Considerations

• Two years teaching experience
• Work experience in the field
• Experience with face-to-face and on-line teaching.
• Substantial, proven experience with innovative teaching and developing online courses in both the synchronous and asynchronous learning environments at a regionally accredited institution
