Job summary

Azarthritis is seeking a dedicated Medical Practice Support Specialist to manage patient messages, coordinate with AARA Providers, and ensure medications are authorized and available for pickup. You will work closely with Providers to review information, maintain HIPAA-compliant communications, and process assessments and records as required.

The role involves handling prior authorizations, e-refills, and ensuring accurate documentation while managing a dynamic workload and prioritizing patient

Qualifications

  • Proven, successful experience in supporting medical professionals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including detailed experience with at least one EHR system.
  • Familiarity with insurance billing and medical coding.
  • Proven multi‑tasking proficiency.
  • Personable and professional.
  • Ability to handle a stressful workload with changing priorities.
  • Degree, MA certificate from an accredited institution or equivalent sector experience.

Responsibilities

  • Process patient messages and escalate issues to AARA Providers as needed.
  • Liaise with patients to ensure medications are authorized, ordered, and available for pickup.
  • Coordinate with Providers to ensure reviews are completed and information communicated to patients.
  • Ensure all communications and messages are HIPAA compliant.
  • Process assessments and documentation; order lab/radiology assessments and escalate abnormalities.
  • Facilitate provision of medical records to patients or third parties as required.
  • Verify prior authorizations and liaise with Prior Authorizations to obtain orders.
  • Process medication refills/e-refills and ensure refills follow Provider guidelines.
  • Follow up on tasks and ensure provider charts are cleaned and up to date before follow‑ups.

Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Processing Patient Messages
  • Understanding and escalating patient issues as necessary to AARA Provider(s)
  • Liaising with patient(s) to ensure medications are authorized, ordered and available for pickup
  • Liaising with Provider(s) to ensure reviews are completed and relevant information and communicating with patient as required
  • Ensuring all communication and messages are HIPAA compliant
  • Processing Assessments / Documentation
  • Ordering lab/radiology assessments
  • Escalating abnormalities to Provider(s) for assessment
  • Facilitating provision of medical records to patient or third party as required
  • Verifying Prior Authorizations
  • Liaise with Prior Authorizations department to facilitate the provision of assessment, medication and/or infusion orders
  • Processing Medication Refills / e-Refills
  • Facilitating medication refills under Provider guidelines and parameters
  • Ensuring validity of refill request and escalating concerns to Provider(s)
  • Preparing approved requests for Provider signature
  • Follow up Tasks
  • Cleaning all Provider charts to ensure all pending assessments and/or documentation is in place prior to follow-up appointment
