Job summary

Job description

Summary

Credit part‑time, adjunct faculty teaching positions in ESL. Opportunities may be available at the Bethlehem, PA campus, Monroe campus located in Tannersville, PA and/or online. All courses are scheduled for weekday mornings or evenings. Most classes will meet in person; remote teaching options are limited.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide high quality English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction at specific levels and skill areas; hold office hours for academic consultation for students.
• Provide learner centered instruction with appropriate assessment.
• Create course syllabi and lesson plans following the ESL department established curriculum guidelines; integrate a variety of sound instructional methods and technology into daily classes.
• Produce relevant and reliable assessment tools and conduct routine assessment to evaluate student progress throughout the semester.
• Carry out final assessment for each course which reflects the material taught throughout the semester.
• Maintain the ESL department’s mission and policies.
• Collaborate with ESL staff on programs, curriculum, and activities.
• Provide culturally appropriate classroom leadership.
• Attend training and staff meetings as required.

The number of adjunct instructors hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department and the College.
