Northampton Community College seeks an adjunct part‑time instructor to teach CAD courses and lead laboratory sessions, focusing on AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks. The role emphasizes mechanical drawing, 3D modeling, and manufacturing concepts within a certificate/associate program.
Candidates should have an Associate’s degree in a related field and 5–10 years of CAD experience. Classes are scheduled mornings, afternoons, and/or evenings, with lab prep required.
Credit part‑time, adjunct faculty teaching positions will teach, lecture, and instruct laboratory coursework in various CAD and CAD‑related curriculum. The role requires a strong emphasis on Computer‑Aided Design/Drafting within the mechanical design industry and involves utilizing current versions of CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks. Candidates should possess knowledge of mechanical drawing and detailing, 3D parametric modeling, rapid prototyping, and manufacturing processes.
Adjunct instructors lead discussions and laboratory sessions for certificate programs, specialized diplomas, associate’s degree candidates, and students progressing toward a four‑year degree. Classes are scheduled in the morning, afternoon, and/or evening, and the instructor must prepare laboratory materials in addition to lecture time.
Associate’s degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution is required.
Minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of recent, relevant professional experience using AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks in 2‑D and 3‑D applications across various industry sectors. Candidates must have computer troubleshooting skills, knowledge of print reading, and technical mathematics. Experience with CNC technology, robotics, inspection, metrology, or CAM/CIM is advantageous.
Some form of academic instruction at the college level, including associate’s degree level or above, is desirable but not required if the candidate can convey basic concepts to students following a prescribed curriculum.
The number of adjunct instructors hired varies from semester to semester, depending on department needs. When an opening becomes available, the hiring manager will review the applicant pool. Upon selection, official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended will be required before a contract is issued.
