Job Description

Come join our team of professionals at Aurora Behavioral Health System. These free-standing psychiatric inpatient hospitals and outpatient programs are located in Tempe, AZ. We are looking for experienced, certified Music Therapists/Adjunctive Therapists to provide quality recreational and expressive therapies as an adjunct to patient treatment. Our psychiatric facility is licensed to treat adolescents and adults for a wide range of psychiatric conditions and chemical dependency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, and implement comprehensive recreational therapy programs.
  • Interact with adolescent and/or adult patients during daily activities, aligned with the organization's treatment program and principles of normal growth and development.

Seeking credentialed and/or licensed professionals with a master's in counseling, psychology, or clinical mental health, and/or holding a certification from an accredited organization or program based on nationally accepted standards within recreational/leisure therapies or creative arts/expressive therapy (e.g., MT-BC, CTRS, ATR, RDT, PTR, R-DMT, EAT, HRT, RYT, LCAT).

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy or Recreational Therapy.
  • Master's degree in Art Therapy, Drama Therapy, Dance/Movement Therapy, or completion of a creative arts/expressive therapy certification program.
  • Certification or license in Yoga, Yoga Therapy, Tai Chi, or Qigong is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, evaluation, and interpretation skills.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatments.
  • Teaching or training skills are helpful.
  • Understanding of, or ability to understand, DSM-V methodology.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a healthcare setting, with inpatient psychiatric experience preferred.
  • Must be 21 years of age and meet qualifications for fingerprint clearance.
  • CPR and TO certification required within 30 days of hire; basic water safety and rescue certification may be required.
