Adjunct Welding Instructor

APPOINTMENT

Appointed by the Chancellor of the College upon recommendation of the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

Adjunct instructors may be assigned classes at any of the four River Parishes Community College campuses (Gonzales, Reserve, Plaquemine, and St. Charles), as determined by student need and institutional demand. Teaching needs may include face-to-face/online and/or evening classes.

No Civil Service test score or assessment is required to be considered for this vacancy.

The pay for the position is contingent upon the hours and classes assigned. Adjunct instructors are currently paid at the rate of $800 per credit hour.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three (3) years welding and cutting experience.
  • Proficient in multiple welding processes.
  • Satisfactory background check – an offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
  • Previous teaching experience preferred.
  • Certified Welder, Certified Welding Educator, Certified Welding Inspector, or OSHA Authorized Instructor preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, deliver, revise, and teach welding courses.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly lab environment.
  • Meet College deadlines for attendance taking, grade submission, learning outcomes assessment reporting, and textbook adoptions.
  • Consult with other College faculty and staff on issues relevant to student success.
  • Monitor and document student performance.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the River Parishes Community College Mission.
