Job description

Job Location: Barton College - Wilson, NC 27893. Adjunct faculty are hired on a semester-by-semester basis to support the College’s academic mission through quality instruction, student engagement, and academic excellence.

Courses may be offered in-person, online, or in a hybrid format, depending on departmental needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved course syllabi and learning outcomes
  • Develop and deliver engaging instruction that supports student success
  • Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Provide timely evaluation and feedback on student assignments and assessments
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and course documentation
  • Submit final grades by published deadlines
  • Communicate regularly with students and respond to inquiries in a timely manner
  • Utilize the College’s learning management system (LMS) and instructional technology as required
  • Maintain professionalism and comply with College policies and procedures
  • Participate in required training, orientation, and meetings as applicable
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in the discipline or a closely related field from an accredited institution
  • Ability to teach at the college level with strong communication skills
  • Commitment to supporting diverse learners and maintaining academic standards
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience in higher education
  • Experience teaching online or hybrid courses
  • Professional experience in the discipline area
  • Experience using an LMS (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.)
  • Doctorate in the discipline or related field (where applicable)
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed based on course scheduling
  • Successful completion of background check and employment verification
