QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Psychology, or a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate hours in Psychology.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written;
  • Proven teaching skills with the ability to convey basic concepts and theories in a practical and comprehensible way;
  • Ability to recognize and respond to students from culturally diverse backgrounds and a willingness to make students active partners in the teaching/learning process;
  • Computer literacy and experience using computers in classroom with a willingness to apply technology and innovative approaches to teaching.

Preferred:

  • Doctorate in Psychology from a regionally accredited institution;
  • Two to five years of teaching experience in a post-secondary institution;
  • All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS).

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructing assigned classes, grading quizzes, tests, and written assignments, assigning final grades, maintaining office hours, ensuring a safe classroom environment, participating in faculty meetings, and other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires sitting and standing for extended periods, presenting oral lectures, walking, bending, lifting, reaching, stooping, and occasionally lifting items over 25 pounds. Manual dexterity to operate office equipment is also required. Employees are expected to follow safety standards.

Classification: Adjunct, Non-supervisory, FLSA Exempt, Temporary (Fixed Term)

Compensation: $690.00 - $775.00 per credit hour, open until filled, commensurate with experience and degree.
