Job summary

Midlands Technical College seeks an adjunct HVAC/R instructor to teach a range of HVAC courses at the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus. The role requires an Associate’s degree in HVAC/R or related trade plus industry experience, or a Bachelor's in Education with HVAC/R training and teaching experience.

Adjunct faculty are compensated per college pay scale. The instructor will prepare instructional materials, manage lab readiness, evaluate student progress, and mentor students on

Qualifications

• Hold an Associate’s degree in HVAC/R or related skilled trade field with 3 years of experience, or 5 years in HVAC industry including training.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education with formal HVAC/R training and 3 years of classroom or industry teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach HVAC courses listed (Electrical Operation and Diagnostics, Refrigeration Cycle Operation, Heat Pump Operations, Air Flow Design, Measurement and Diagnostics, EPA 608 prep, Brazing for HVAC, Customer Service for HVAC Technicians).
• Prepare instructional materials and ensure lab readiness and facility readiness for class activities.
• Evaluate and report students’ progress and keep accurate records in line with course schedules.
• Assign and assist students on class projects and deliver lecture demonstrations.
• Assist the HVAC/R Program Director by notifying about shortfalls in supplies or equipment for lab instruction.

Job description

Maintains a high level of excellence in teaching by communicating and interacting effectively with students enrolled in courses within the program area. Prepares materials needed for instruction and ensuring the readiness of facilities for class activities; evaluation and reporting of students’ progress; assigning and assisting students on class projects; creating and delivering lecture demonstrations. Keep student records and adheres to course schedules. Must have a broad knowledge of the residential HVAC industry and HVAC installation, troubleshooting, and repair techniques. Assists the HVAC/R Program Director with timely notification of any shortfall in supplies or equipment needed for lab instruction.

HVAC instructors will teach the following courses:

• HVAC Electrical Operation and Diagnostics
• HVAC Refrigeration Cycle Operation and Diagnostics
• Heat Pump Operations and Diagnostics
• Air Flow Design
• Measurement and Diagnostics
• Epa 608 Certification Prep
• Brazing for HVAC
• Customer Service for HVAC Technicians

This position will be located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus

Associate’s degree in HVAC/R or related skilled trade field and three (3) years of experience, or five (5) years of HVAC industry experience including training or mentoring new employees.

Bachelor's degree in Education with formal training in HVAC/R and three (3) years of teaching in the classroom or in industry.

Adjunct faculty are compensated in accordance with Midlands Technical College’s established pay schedule. Final compensation may vary depending on academic credentials and total course credit hours. Any variation is determined upon hire and outlined in the faculty employment agreement.
