Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion, the Ph.D. Methodologist is to mentor and guide students to develop into scholars and methodologists during the dissertation phase, making it possible to contribute to advancing innovative theories. The students are encouraged to utilize qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research.

The qualified applicant will have an earned Ph.D. The applicant needs to have documented experience in any or all the following methodologies: qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research. The applicant will be expected to guide and mentor student methodology during the dissertation process. Online faculty must have regular access to and familiarity with the Internet/e-mail.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Serving as mentor and methodologist on numerous dissertation committees.
  2. Reviewing and providing feedback on dissertation manuscripts.
  3. Preparing doctoral students to conduct qualitative or quantitative dissertation research.
  4. Teaching either qualitative or quantitative research methods courses.
  5. Completing grading within five days, responding to student emails within 36 hours, checking into courses every 48 hours, and completing ongoing professional development.
  6. Strictly adhering to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  7. Working effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.

Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Ph.D. or equivalent in an allied health profession such as, but not limited to, Health Sciences, Rehabilitation Science, Physical Therapy, Communication Science, and Occupational Therapy.
  2. Experience with a single methodology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Terminal degree in Health Sciences or a related field.
  2. Methodology experience in multiple methodologies.
  3. Three years or more of full-time online teaching experience at the graduate levels and a strong record of professional achievement.
  4. History of publication in academic or trade journals. Established research and/or professional content agenda.
