Job description

Overview

The Peabody Preparatory is pleased to announce an adjunct Piano Faculty position in the Piano Department, anticipated start Fall 2026. Adjunct status is a maximum of 9.5 hours of teaching. The successful candidate will join a dedicated piano faculty as part of a vibrant department committed to helping students at all levels achieve their potential.

Location

Park School Campus, 2425 Old Court Road, Baltimore, MD 21208. Teaching may also occur at other campus locations. Teachers set their own teaching schedules (subject to space availability), but after‑school and/or Saturday hours will be required.

Duties
  • Teach private piano lessons to students aged 5 years and older, including adults, at all skill levels during the fall and spring semesters (32 weeks).
  • Provide additional teaching opportunities during the summer (6–8 weeks).
  • Participate in and assist with end‑of‑semester performances and exams.
  • Attend periodic faculty meetings.
  • Other appropriate assignments by agreement (e.g., group piano, summer programs).
  • Develop classes and workshops based on experience and interests.
Salary

Starting at $40 /hr for private lessons and $50 /hr for group classes.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in piano performance and/or pedagogy is required.
  • Doctorate degree or equivalent experience and training is highly preferred.
  • Documented successful teaching experience required.
  • Documented successful performing experience encouraged.
