Adjunct, Physical Therapy Assistant

Adjunct Job Description:

All courses, including labs, are held during the daytime and are in-person

Position Summary:

This position will support the Physical Therapist Assistant program. The adjunct faculty member teaches in the classroom and laboratory setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Teach classroom and laboratory courses related to all assigned subject matter in Physical Therapist Assistant Program
2. Facilitate student mastery of core learning outcomes using the most relevant and scholarly tools and technology available.
3. Actively engage students in critical thinking, meta-cognitive processes, and advancement of critical essential communication skills.
4. Infuse multicultural and diverse perspectives into the instructional process as appropriate and conduct classes in a manner that demonstrates respect for individual and cultural differences.
5. Model and cultivate open-minded inquiry, an appreciation for diverse perspectives, and creative problem-solving.
6. Submit syllabi and other instructional materials in a timely manner.
7. Maintain regular communication with students and, when appropriate, use the Student Success Alert notification process.
8. Assess student work in a timely manner and submit course grades by the posted deadline.
9. Communicate student progress to the Program Manager.
10. Participate in Faculty meetings and program review

Required Minimum Qualifications:

1. Associate Degree
2. Licensed Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant
3. Three (3) years of full-time work experience as a PT or PTA

Desired Qualifications:

1. Prior classroom teaching experience
2. Experience using Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Blackboard Learning Management System
3. Ability to use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace.
