Job description

The School of Occupational Therapy seeks qualified adjunct faculty to support our growing occupational therapy programs and contribute their clinical expertise to the education of future practitioners.

Adjunct faculty play an important role in supporting student learning and professional development by delivering course content that reflects current occupational therapy practice. Courses are primarily taught on campus in a 15‑week format, though hybrid or online delivery may be used when appropriate.

Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned occupational therapy course(s) using instructional strategies that support student engagement and professional reasoning
  • Prepare course materials, assignments, and learning activities aligned with course objectives
  • Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback
  • Maintain accurate records of grades and student progress in accordance with university policies
  • Utilize the university’s learning management system to distribute course materials and manage course communication
  • Communicate with program leadership regarding student progress or concerns
  • Attend faculty meetings as requested
Required Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution
  • Current NBCOT certification
  • Maine Occupational Therapy licensure or eligibility for licensure
  • At least 3 years of clinical experience in occupational therapy practice
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior teaching or clinical instruction experience
  • Familiarity with occupational therapy educational standards and accreditation expectations
  • Experience using learning management systems or instructional technologies
