Job summary

Regis College is seeking an Adjunct Lecturer to teach SO-201: Introduction to Sociology for the Spring 2027 semester. The course will be held in-person on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:00-10:50 at Regis College, Weston, MA 02493.

Applicants should hold an advanced degree in a humanities or sociology-related field (PhD preferred but not required) and have at least two years of teaching experience with two references.

Responsibilities

• Teach SO-201: Introduction to Sociology to enrolled students.
• Ensure pedagogical design, implementation, and assessment of the course.
• Provide timely feedback to students and hold office hours at least 2 hours per week (via Zoom if needed).
• Interact professionally with a diverse group of colleagues and students; perform duties as appropriate.

Summary

The Department of Humanities at Regis College invites applications for an Adjunct Lecturer to teach SO-201: Introduction to Sociology during the Spring 2027 semester. This course will be conducted in-person on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:00-10:50.

Course Description

This course introduces students to the major theories, theorists, concepts, and methods used in the study of society. It considers a variety of topics including culture, socialization, gender, racial, economic, and social class divisions.

(Instructor has the freedom to construct a syllabus and decide on course content in consultation with department Chair, so long as course description and outcomes are unchanged.)

Essential Functions

• Teaching SO-201
• Ensuring appropriate pedagogical design, implementation, and assessment of the course
• Providing timely feedback to students and hold office hours at least 2 hours/week (this can be done via Zoom)

Please Note: Adjunct instructors are NOT expected to attend school or department meetings (though they are welcome to), conduct academic advising, or serve on standing committees.

Compensation

• Master’s degree–prepared candidate: $3,485 per course
• Doctoral degree–prepared candidate: $3,700 per course
