Job Description Summary

Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as needed basis.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Teach courses in approved disciplines.
• Provide instruction to facilitate student acquisition of specific learning outcomes identified for assigned courses.
• Mentor students inside and outside the classroom.
• Create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of assigned courses (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, dual credit instruction).
• Provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation.
• Provide timely feedback to students and respond to communications promptly.
• Assess student performance and submit final grades in a timely fashion.
• Maintain ethical and professional behavior.
• Be available to students by appointment.
• Attend adjunct faculty meetings.
• Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels.
• Complete any required training and other related duties as assigned.

Required Education

• Associate degree and/or 2‑5 years work experience in the field of study.
• Bachelor’s degree and/or 6‑10 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study.
• Master’s degree and/or 11‑15 years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study.
• Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study.
• Minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion.

Required Experience

Minimum of 3 years experience in the field of study.

Preferred Education

Associate degree or higher and/or credentialed in the field of study or a closely related technical field.

Preferred Experience

• 3 to 7 years work experience in the field of study.
• Classroom teaching experience with adult learners.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Must be able to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; provide instruction to achieve specific goals and objectives; create a professional and effective learning environment; communicate effectively with students, college personnel, peers and public groups; treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice; employ the highest professional and ethical standards; observe the stated policies and procedures of the College.
