Adjunct Instructor Veterinary Technician

Position Title: Adjunct Instructor Veterinary Technician

Classification: Adjunct Instructor

Position Number: F2

Starting Wage/Salary: $752 per load unit

Open Until Filled: Yes (Open for the 2026-27 Academic Year)

Location: Redmond, Hybrid Remote Work Eligible; HR offering hybrid/remote options.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction for program courses involving lecture only or lecture and laboratory settings in a collegial environment.
  • Prepare laboratory environments by assembling and maintaining necessary resources with the aid of a laboratory assistant.
  • Remain current in Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Technician and Veterinary Technician Education through professional activities and by staying current on State Licensure.
  • Demonstrate potential for excellent classroom and lab instruction using the provided curriculum; support provided by the Program Director and Full-Time Faculty.
  • Maintain student grade records and essential skill completion data using Canvas learning management software.
  • Hold at least one scheduled office hour per class per week for student help sessions.
  • Perform other essential job functions as assigned.
Department Specific

Provide instruction, guidance and assessment in lecture and laboratory settings within the Veterinary Technician Program. Courses may include, but are not limited to, Animal Hospital and Office Procedures, Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Radiation Safety, Veterinary Microbiology, Parasitology and Pathology, Exotic and Lab Animal, Pharmaceutical Math, Diagnostic Imaging, and Animal Nutrition. Part‑time instruction requires approximately 25 contact hours per month.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Technician Training.
  • Desire to advocate for all species; experience with large, small, exotic, lab, and birds.
  • Knowledge of the role of the Certified Veterinary Technician.
  • Experience in a clinical, research, academic setting.
  • Visual and manual dexterity to supervise lab students.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Canvas LMS, and other software.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative atmosphere among students and faculty.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours.
Professional Requirements
  • Current Oregon License as a Veterinarian or Certified Veterinary Technician (effective by hire).
  • Veterinary Technician applicants must hold an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology or equivalent, passed the VTNE, and be a credentialed Veterinary Technician.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a licensed Veterinarian or Certified Veterinary Technician with hands‑on animal handling.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous teaching experience at post‑secondary level and knowledge of educational theory.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Education.
  • Experience working with community veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
  • Knowledge of teaching adult learners and group dynamics.
  • Experience in curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with audio‑visual equipment operation or oversight.
