Job summary

Tarleton State University invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor in Professional or Technical Writing within the Department of English and Languages. The role supports our 2025-2026 academic year across Stephenville, Fort Worth, and online programs, teaching up to six credit hours per term as needed.

Successful candidates will hold a masters in the field, demonstrate strong English communication, and be prepared to contribute to a vibrant teaching community with online and on-campus

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Professional or Technical Writing or closely related field.
• Minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, and/or laboratory offerings to undergraduate and/or graduate students.
• Develop course syllabi, select instructional materials, and design assessments such as exams, quizzes, papers, etc.
• Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and evaluate student learning outcomes to inform teaching practices and curriculum improvements.
• Engage students in active learning, foster critical thinking, and provide opportunities for discussion and collaboration.
• Provide academic support and guidance to students through office hours and mentoring.
• Adhere to university policies, academic integrity standards, and accreditation requirements.
• Incorporate innovative teaching methods, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning and engagement.
