Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Philosophy or equivalent.
  • 18 graduate semester hours in Philosophy if no master's.
  • Experience teaching at the college level is preferred.

About this role

Instruct college students in accordance with educational theories and techniques. Develops discipline related curricula, assess student learning, participates in program evaluation, and college activities. Maintains college and department standards in support of the College's mission and strategic plan.

Varies Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develops, maintains, interprets, and executes administrative procedures and practices. This activity includes developing and maintaining manuals regarding the College's policies, procedures, rules, and standards.
  • Analyzes class and program needs of the College. Determines and recommends the retention or deletion of courses.
  • Develops and coordinates program and course schedules, faculty assignments, and test dates. Maintains calendar as necessary to track these schedules and adjusts as required.
  • Assist students and program curriculum, program and course reviews, and articulation activities.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications :
Education and Experience:

Master's degree in Philosophy or Master's degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Philosophy

Knowledge of:
  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications
  • Utilize Canvas Learning Management System and other instructional technologies
Ability to:
  • Interact positively with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Work Environment and Physical Demand:
  • Reach and grasp objects
  • Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Use of video display terminal
  • Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills
  • Communicate information orally and in writing
  • Receive and understand information through oral and written communication
  • Proofread and check documents for accuracy
Pay Rates:

Standard hourly rates vary based on the assigned course level and educational credentials.

Must have the ability to work a fluctuating schedule to include evenings and weekends.
