Adjunct Faculty – Part Time Faculty – Des Plaines, IL
Responsibilities
- Construct a course syllabus consistent with department requirements.
- Prepare lecture, laboratory, and clinical materials as appropriate.
- Deliver instruction, including meetings and laboratories at scheduled times.
- Consult with and evaluate students.
- Maintain clear records of student performance and attendance.
- Submit midterm and final grades and manage office hours.
- Follow departmental and institutional policies, including OCCFA contract provisions.
- Adhere to all institutional procedures.
Requirements
- Strong communication and facilitatory skills in a student‑centered environment.
- Commitment to a culturally competent setting and ability to integrate inclusive practices.
- Proficiency in current educational technologies and promotion of critical thinking.
- Desire to innovate in college‑level teaching and instruction delivery.
- Professional competence, leadership qualities, participation in professional development, and institutional service.
- Master's degree in the target language or related field, with near‑native fluency. For second‑language courses, at least 18 graduate semester hours in the language.
- Preferred: College teaching experience and qualifications for a second language.
Additional Information
- Part‑time faculty taught LHE basis: 1221/LHE (non‑doctorate) or 1294/LHE (doctorate) for 2025‑26.
- Open for evening or weekend instruction; may be required in Des Plaines and Skokie.
- Teaching load: Arabic 101, 102, 201, and 202 (starting 01/12/2026).
