Qualifications

  • Two years supervising Nurse Aide approved by DHSR/NC Board is required.
  • Ability to stand, walk and speak during theory, lab and clinical portions.
  • Clinical rotations in hospital and rehab facilities may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner; supervises and evaluates student clinical performances
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance; submits information as required
  • Maintains a safe, compliant learning environment; uses lab equipment safely and organizes materials
  • Grading and timely feedback of student work
  • Counsels students regarding grades and progression
  • Develops classroom materials aligned with DHSR standards and course objectives
  • Uses assessment strategies to evaluate learning outcomes and instructional effectiveness
  • Communicates with instructors and team members to share information accurately
  • Stays current with instructional methods and classroom technologies
  • Supports department and college goals; provides required data when asked
  • Maintains required documentation and immunizations for this role
  • Experience supervising Nurse Aide in line with NC regulatory practices

Job description

This position will be responsible for effective instruction for assigned courses (Nurse Aide) which involve theory, skill demonstration in the laboratory setting, and the clinical component.

Wake Technical Community College is seeking interested and qualified applications to expand our pool of part-time, temporary faculty to be a part of the Nurse Aide Program Team. Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty members provide quality, effective instruction in their assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis.

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner; supervises and evaluates student clinical performances
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance, submits information in accordance with institutional and departmental policies
  • Maintains a safe and orderly and compliant learning environment; uses laboratory equipment safely and proficiently; ensures lab and classroom materials are well organized and readily accessible; maintains the required DHSR supply list by having a systematic organization approach to lab and classroom materials
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner ensuring it is appropriately and accurately completed
  • Counsels students regarding grades and progression in the course
  • Develops and implements classroom materials that align with course objectives and adhere to instructional standards and guidelines established by the Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR)
  • Utilizes professional assessment strategies to evaluate and enhance student learning outcomes and instructional effectiveness
  • Maintains effective communication with instructors and other team members to ensure information is current accurate and appropriately shared
  • Stays current with emerging instructional methods and classroom technologies to enhance teaching effectiveness and student learning
  • Supports the department, division and college goals, providing requested data in a timely manner
  • Maintains current required documentation and immunization needed for this role
  • Experience supervising Nurse Aide
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning and demonstrate a variety of instructional techniques and methods. Materials must be approved by DHSR
  • Demonstrate innovation, creativity and enthusiasm while effectively engaging and teaching students with diverse personalities and learning styles
  • Exhibits strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, fostering positive and productive working relationships
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to perform duties independently and with minimal supervision
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in using technology and the organization's, including, computers, and web-based resources such as BlackBoard, teams and outlook
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in using laboratory equipment and promotes safety in the lab setting
Minimum Requirements:

Nursing Diploma from a three-year program or Associate degree in Nursing

A current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina

Must have two (2) calendar years prior full-time employment, or the equivalent, in clinical nursing practice as a Registered Nurse

Two years experience supervising Nurse Aides approval by the Division of Health Service Regulation (NC Department of Health and Human Services) and the NC Board of Nursing to teach Nursing Assisting courses

The position requires standing, walking and talking during much of the course, to include the theory, lab and clinical portions

Must be able to complete clinical rotations in hospital and rehabilitation facility settings

Experience supervising Nurse Aide
