Job summary

Malcolm X College is seeking a Part-time Adjunct Instructor to teach Chemistry and Physical Science. The ideal candidate will design courses, engage diverse learners, and foster critical thinking and problem-solving through discipline-specific strategies.

Salary is paid per contact hour ($800–$943) and aligned with City Colleges approved salary scale. Online teaching via Zoom is supported, and the role emphasizes inclusive, accessible instruction and student success within a collaborative

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a physical science (Chemistry, Physics, etc.) – or Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Physical Science/Chemistry.
• Teaching experience preferred – either higher education or high school levels.
• Knowledge of Brightspace Learning Management System or similar LMS, preferred.
• Prior experience with online teaching (via Zoom) and/or online teaching certification is strongly preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with a diverse group of staff and students required.
• Experience with a diverse, multilingual student population desired, as is a commitment to open-access mission of the community college.
