Minimum qualifications require a master's or higher in mathematics or a related field with 18 graduate math hours; teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Maintain attendance and grading records per college policy.
  • Offer assistance to students outside class time.
  • Utilize Blackboard/PowerPoint and other tech as needed.

Job Description SummaryIvy Tech seeks qualified adjunct faculty to supplement the mathematics instruction needs of our students at the Tell City, IN campus. This role will support students learning math while working in local manufacturing settings.Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.Major Responsibilities:Candidates considered for adjunct positions under this postings must be able to provide instruction in person at the Evansville, IN campus.PROGRAM OPERATION:Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.Submits requested information within established timelines.STUDENTS:Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.INSTRUCTION:Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Blackboard, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. Promote same as an integral part of one's work.The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties associated with the position may be assigned.Hiring Range:$45.00 per contact hour (approximately $2,160 per 8-week course).Work Hours:This role will work one day a week for 8 hours.Minimum QualificationsPossesses an earned master's or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in mathematics; or Possesses an earned master's or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in any field with 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics-related courses.Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instructionPreferred QualificationsExperience providing instruction at a post-secondary institute, preferable focused on real-world mathematical applications.Ivy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our part-time employees.
